Commonly found in Europe and the UK, the Sparrowhawk is the much, much smaller version of the Goshawk. A patch of feathers in the garden is most likely the neighbourhood Sparrowhawk on his daily visit.
Ultra common for falconry, not quite so much now as Goshawks are preferred.
