A large species of falcon, found everywhere from Central Europe eastwards to Manchuria. Migrates to Ethiopia, Arabia and China. Favoured by Arab falconers, it has now been usurped by the bigger and more beautiful Gyr Falcon.
Bred extensively in captivity, this bird originated from a famous lady Falconer.
