An ultra rare specimen of the melanistic phase of the Crested or Changeable Hawk Eagle. Breeding from South Asia in India and Sri Lanka, and across Asia to the Philippines.
Imported sporadically into the UK for decades, and mainly used for demonstrations, as was this bird.
